The literary works on effective treatments for pediatric deafferentation pain, particularly in the setting of spinal cord injury, is scarce. We report the outcome of a 12-year-old patient with intense allodynia after a gunshot injury to the back. The pain sensation had been refractory to several analgesics, but resolved with ketamine, that also improved the individual's real function and quality of life, a trend that carried on many months following the injury.
