Stem cells were engrafted in portal, sinusoidal and hepatic vein compartments, with cell alignment reminiscent of endothelium. Cell surface marker expression altered following engraftment, from haematopoietic to endothelial phenotype, and engrafted cells expressed sinusoidal endothelial endocytic receptors (mannose, Fc and stabilin receptors).
