The organic superbase catalyst t-Bu-P4 achieves nucleophilic aromatic substitution of methoxyarenes with alkanenitrile pronucleophiles. A variety of functional groups [cyano, nitro, (non)enolizable ketone, chloride, and amide moieties] are allowed on methoxyarenes.
