The density of TRPV1 positive primary afferent terminals in the superficial laminae of Vc was higher in CIH rats. Phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (pERK)-immunoreactive cells intermingled with the central terminal of TRPV1-positive afferents in the Vc.
