Besides final disassembly, we discovered unique disassembly activities involving mostly quick SCs that disappeared in advance of programmed final disassembly, which we termed "abortive disassembly." Abortive disassembly is distinct from last disassembly in that it occurs when Zip1 protein amounts continue to be high, and exhibits a much reduced rate of disassembly, suggesting yet another procedure for elimination within the 2 kinds of disassembly
