Golden Eagles nest in cliffs and trees in riparian or forested habitats. They are known to reuse a nest site for many seasons and sometimes alternate between two adjacent sites within a territory. Their nests are huge – averaging some 5-6 feet wide and 2 feet high, enclosing a bowl 3 feet deep. The largest golden eagle nest on record was 20 feet tall and 8.5 feet wide. The nest is built from sticks and materials found in the vicinity. The outer shell of the nest is made from large branches and twigs, with the inner lining being comprised of small sticks
