Metamask is an Ethereum wallet designed to be compatible with the Mist browser, which is a step above Ethereum's default wallet. Access the wallet from your browser and it will auto-login to any local node, but only if you have a MyEtherWallet account open in another tab; use this setup if you would like to have your Metamask Extension details available on other platforms too
