The Item Upgrader in World of Warcraft The War Within introduced Valorstones, and Harbinger Crests as two currencies for upgrading gear. They can be traded at the NPCs of item upgraders Cuzolth and Vaskarn. Each item can be upgraded to its maximum level for a specific slot once. Upgrades to that slot will be cheaper following. Additionally the pity system introduced with The War Within lowers extreme upgrade luck variance. Upgrades Upgrades are elements that boost performance or add new functionality.
