To describe the prevalence of lifetime psychiatric hospital diagnoses among men registered in an outpatient alcohol clinic and compare the prevalence with matched controls. To assess temporality of alcohol use disorder (AUD) diagnoses and another psychiatric hospital diagnosis and examine the prevalence of lifetime psychiatric hospital diagnoses according to this temporal order. The study included 8,412 Danish men registered in an outpatient alcohol clinic, and 8,412 unregistered controls from the Danish Conscription Database
