Throne and Liberty Gear Upgrades The upgrade of gear can increase its base stats and sometimes boosts its extras. The value of these upgrade is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements and how many random augmentations are made available. The most powerful racial Shield Razortail for instance, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capabilities in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM.
