Surgery remains the preferred treatment option for hydatid cyst (cystic echinococcosis); however, recent studies have demonstrated that the current protoscolicidal agents used during surgery are associated with some adverse side effects such as biliary fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, and cirrhosis. The present study aims to evaluate the in vitro and ex vivo anti-parasitic effects of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) alone and combined with albendazole on hydatid cyst protoscoleces. CuNPs was green synthesized using C. spinosa extract.
