Overall and subtype HPV infection rates increased with severity of abnormal cervical cytology. The most prevalent HPV genotypes were 52, 58 and 16 in women with abnormal cervical cytology. Conclusions HPV prevalence remains at a high level in Shenzhen. This study suggests that attention should be paid to HPV screening, especially in young, perimenopausal women and in high risk HPV genotype infection. Timely follow-up and cervical cytology screening are required for women with high-risk HPV infection or persistent infection. Future vaccinat
