Nrf2 overexpression in HepG2 cells led to increased expansion, survival and migration, and these activities had been suppressed by silencing PGD. Interestingly, knockdown of this gene encoding this enzyme not merely attenuated the expansion and clonogenicity of HepG2 cells, but in addition downregulated the phrase of Nrf2. Thus, there generally seems to exist a positive-feedback loop between Nrf2 and PGD which is exploited by hepatoma cells due to their expansion and survival.
