The Covid-19 pandemic has led to extensive testing by oropharyngeal swab. Although it is a relatively uncomplicated procedure, complications may occur. This is a case report of an 81-year-old male with a history of atrial flutter receiving anticoagulant therapy, who developed an oropharyngeal haematoma and subsequent infection following a test for SARS-CoV-2 by oropharyngeal swab.
