Bacillus licheniformis BL1 was used as a starting strain to construct the recombinant tetramethylpyrazine (TMP)-producing strains by over-expression of the α-acetolactate decarboxylase gene (aldC) and α-acetolactate synthase gene (alsS), named BLC, BLS and BLCS, respectively.
