Amplicon sequencing revealed that methylotrophic Methanococcoides actively dominated in all enrichment samples from both regions with additions of trimethylamine or phytate phosphorus, whereas methylotrophic Methanolobus and Methanosarcina predominated in the enrichments obtained from vegetated and unvegetated sediments, respectively.
