Concentrations of serum and synovial fluid SAA rapidly increased after inoculation of E. coli and were highest on day 3 and day 4, respectively. Thereafter, both serum and synovial fluid SAA decreased with eradication of joint infection, although they remained significantly increased from baseline until day 9 and day 10, respectively.
