Using a fluorescent intravital microscopy set up, we quantified ozone-induced extensive alveolar cellular damage. We observed ozone-induced actin filament disorganization, perturbed respiratory mechanics, acute suppression of the alveolar reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and mitochondrial potential in ventilated lungs.
