Abiraterone acetate is an antiandrogen steroidal drug that is used to treat patients with metastatic prostate cancer. During the process development of abiraterone acetate, two process α and β-epoxy abiraterone acetate related impurities (2 and 3) were observed along with the final API. In the present work we describe the synthesis of these two known impurities using abiraterone acetate in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid as oxidizing agent.
