The salivary level of α1 adrenergic receptors was significantly higher in patients with tumors located in the gingiva, compared with other sites. Significantly higher salivary level of α1 adrenergic receptors in OSCC patients compared with healthy controls, and no significant difference in their serum level between the two groups may indirectly indicate the over-expression of these receptors in OSCC cells, compared with normal oral mucosa.
