A series of α-mercapto-β-amino acid derivatives were synthesized diastereoselectively in good yields through the aza-enolization of α-sulfanyl N-tert-butanesulfinylimidates, followed by their nucleophilic addition to N-tosyl imines via a Mannich-type reaction.
