World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln. Certain items are worth upgrading because of their distinctive stats.
