A 20-year old male with severe aortic insufficiency (AI) received a mechanical aortic valve replacement (AVR). Following that he subsequently presented with an aortic root dissection, pseudoaneurysm and prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) requiring surgical re-interventions twice with a positive Mycobacterium chimaera (M. chimaera) tissue culture despite prolonged antimycobacterial therapy.
