Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) were significantly decreased after USW therapy. Moreover, the messenger RNA (mRNA) expressions of TNF-α and IL-1β were significantly decreased in the USW group, whereas the mRNA expression of Arginase 1 (Arg1) and the protein expression of mannose receptor significantly increased in comparison with the untreated ALI group. We conclude that USW therapy may attenuate inflammation in LPS-induced ALI through the modulation of macrophage polarization. © 20
