The Mandela Result is a phenomenon that describes a cumulative misremembering of a reality or event. It is called after Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa, who many people thought had died in jail in the 1980s. Mandela was really released from jail in 1990 and went on to become the President of South Africa. The term "Mandela Impact" was coined by paranormal scientist Fiona Broome in 2010, after she found that many individuals shared the exact same false memory of Mandela's death.
