Tamoxifen-induced knockout of Lss in the epidermis caused hypotrichosis in adult mice. Lens-specific Lss knockout mice had cataracts. These results confirmed that LSS deficiency causes hypotrichosis and cataracts due to loss-of-function mutations in LSS in each tissue.
