We introduce harmonic cross-correlation decomposition (HCD) as a tool to detect and visualize features in the frequency structure of multivariate time series. HCD decomposes multivariate time series into spatiotemporal harmonic modes with the leading modes representing dominant oscillatory patterns in the data.
