What Does a Gas Heating Engineer Do? A gas engineer is an expert who works with systems and appliances that use natural gas. They install, repair and maintain these systems, and are able to solve any issues that may arise. They must be registered on the Gas Safe Register to work legally and they must inform the local authority of any projects they have completed. This is to stop gas leaks as well as explosions, fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.
