Transposable elements (TEs) have been shown to have important gene regulatory functions and their alteration could lead to disease phenotypes. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) develops as a consequence of a series of genetic changes in hematopoietic precursor cells, including mutations in epigenetic factors.
