Of the 1,366 patients initiating naltrexone, 43.2% (59 received 2 to 5 prescriptions and 16.3% (223) received more than 5 prescriptions for naltrexone. Use of naltrexone beyond one prescription was associated with homelessness, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, psychotropic medication use, and psychiatric hospitalization.
