Conclusion There was a significant relationship of antibiotic drug therapy and age on S. aureus carriage profiles in CF customers indicating that antibiotic therapy prevents purchase of the latest clones, while during aging of patients with persisting S. aureus, dominant clones had been selected and mutations in the spa-repeat area built up.
