The purpose of this study was to synthesize S-protected thiolated hyaluronic acid (HA) and to evaluate its potential for 3D cell culture scaffold. S-protected thiolated HA was synthesized by the covalent attachment of N-acetyl-S-((3-((2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)oxy)-3-oxopropyl)thio)cysteine hydrazide ligand to the HA.
