CONCLUSIONS Diabetic wound healing was associated with decreased epithelial and connective tissue healing, increased levels of inflammation and biofilm formation. Myofibroblast differentiation was delayed in diabetic periodontal wounds at early time points. However, myofibroblasts persisted at later time points of healing.
