Elderly patients continue to experience low levels of mobility during and following postoperative hospitalization that lead to persistent physical decline. Therefore, here we compared chronic resistance (CR) exercise against chronic aerobic (CA) exercise in ameliorating postoperative functioning and reducing proinflammatory muscular Toll-like receptor (TLR)-associated signaling in elderly postoperative patients. We conducted a prospective, randomized trial comparing the effects of 3 exercise programs (CR, CA, and CR + CA) in 66 elderl
