This had been not an environment in that we was in a very talk proudly about my heritage. I retreated and assimilated as fast as I will be able to. I was very ashamed of my background. I particularly embarrassed about mom and dad. Compared with my friend's parents, mine seemed ignorant and crude. Not one classmate ever met mom and dad or visited my home during the 5 years I attended the faculty. I visited in their homes but not until no more grade thirteen did I invite any friends to mine.
