The anti-cancer agent doxorubicin (DOX) has high cardiotoxicity that is linked to DOX-mediated increase in oxidative stress, mitochondrial iron overload, DNA damage, autophagy, necrosis, and apoptosis, all of which are also associated with secondary tumorigenicity.
