Private Diagnosis For ADHD Many adults pay for private assessments due to the fact that NHS services are inefficient and waiting lists are at an all-time high. The BBC's Panorama program has exposed a few clinics making unqualified diagnoses of ADHD and prescribing stimulants for it. A diagnosis of ADHD must be determined by a psychiatrist or an appropriately qualified specialist nurse or doctor. A psychiatrist should also be able prescribe medication.
