Soon I met my new family, a mum and dad and two small bedroom. The parents had been separated from the war, and were only recently reunited. The mother and children spoke almost none English, the daddy a a bit more. My commitment would see them once full week for six months, become a friend that would also act as a cultural consultant, share significant Canadian holidays with them, allow any other support which i could serve up.
